About

This is a site managed by John Mielke.  It is an outgrowth of the Theologic Foundations class taught at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Many of the posts are in response to questions posed by students during class that require more in depth responses, links to other resources, or a vehicle to write about other theologic topics.

It is my hope that these occasional posts will encourage my students and others to fulfill Paul’s command to Timothy in his second letter (2:7), “Think over what I say, for The Lord will give you understanding in everything.”

  • An Advent Meditation

For my Christ loving friends, Here is a quote from Wayne Grudem’s text, “Systematic Theology” concluding the chapter on the Person of Christ (Chapter 26) and the mystery/reality of the hypostatic union. It has enriched my worship of Jesus Christ our Lord this advent season: “Conclusion: At the end of this long discussion, it may…

  • Quote about the centrality of Christ in our studies

We cross a line when we are more focused on mastering theology than being mastered by Christ.  Pastor Greg Dutcher in Killing Calvinism 2012
